“Things are always either black or white. The grey in between is only a confusion.”
Maria Viktor favours a one colour pallet of black only, leaving the negative space created by the white canvas, to do the rest. Motivated by the belief that in life, things are either black or white, right or wrong, hot or cold, this artist strives to create clean, strong, uncompromisingly beautiful works.
“Knowing only gray, you conclude that all grays are the same shade. You mock the simplicity of the two-color view, yet you replace it with a one-color view….”
Recently Viktor’s first solo exhibition, THE MOST COLOURFUL THING, was a sell-out success, when 36 paintings sold in just 5 days.
